The original motion picture soundtrack to The Biosphere 2 was a solo endeavor entrusted to me by Caleb “CJ” Spanier, the mastermind behind all of The Biosphere content.

  • Team Size: Solo
  • Development Time: Three (3) months
  • Software: LogicPro
  • Released: July 2025

Everything I worked on for this soundtrack took inspiration from the 90’s era. A lot of that can be felt throughout the drum patterns and chip-like synths used to create the sonic palette that I was going for.

Before taking a stab at the first song on the soundtrack, CJ had sent me many references to take inspiration from. These helped a lot when attempting to understand exactly what he wanted in terms of the mood or tone to set for each track. In total I created three (3) and a half (1/2) original tracks, reusing the instrumental of Ready For An Adventure? to create The Biosphere Shuffle, which actually includes vocals from myself and a few of my peers.

The last “song” on the soundtrack, Sounds of the Sphere – SFX Pack, is an assortment of sound effects used during the video created by Nik Presser (Bluehood Studios). While I had no direct role in creating these SFX, the team wanted to include them on the soundtrack as they too played an instrumental role in bringing The Biosphere to life.

Aside from the soundtrack, I was able to assist with the video itself by creating the timer interface that is used for the VHS-style of footage. This was done by creating a simple timer in Unreal Engine, using a bright green image as the background, recording the timer for a substantial duration using OBS’s recording software, and then keying out the green color to overlay the timer on top of the footage itself. This helped to sell the analog body camera footage and also gives the viewer an accurate sense of the passage of time in the world of The Biosphere.
